The SMA Atriums are high-precision stainless steel air sampling heads designed for viable airborne contamination monitoring in pharmaceutical cleanrooms, biotechnology facilities, and other controlled environments. Engineered for use with SMA Integrated Control Systems and MicroPortable air samplers, they ensure accurate and reproducible microbial air sampling in compliance with strict GMP requirements. Operating at a controlled airflow of 1 CFM (28.3 LPM), the SMA Atriums use impaction sampling technology to direct environmental air onto standard agar media plates. This enables reliable detection and quantification of viable microorganisms for routine environmental monitoring and contamination control programs. Manufactured from high-grade 316L stainless steel, the system offers exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and full compatibility with steam, heat, and ethylene oxide (ETO) sterilization processes. Its hygienic, non-turbulent design ensures minimal disruption of unidirectional airflow, making it suitable for installation in critical zones such as RABS and isolators. The compact and ergonomic “Easy Grip” design improves handling and operational safety, while multiple configuration options (including wall-mounted setups and various sieve diameters) allow adaptation to different facility requirements and sampling strategies. SMA Atriums are compatible with standard 90 mm and 100 mm media plates and support extended sampling durations depending on configuration. Their modular integration with centralized monitoring systems ensures seamless data collection, traceability, and regulatory compliance. Ideal for aseptic manufacturing, cleanroom qualification, and routine environmental monitoring, the SMA Atriums provide a robust, validated, and industry-trusted solution for high-accuracy microbial air sampling in critical controlled environments. Veltek’s SMA Atrium System conforms to both ISO14698 and the new BS EN17141 Cleanroom and Associated Environments standard.
